Dear Grade 5/6 Families,

What a fantastic and full fortnight we’ve had in our senior classrooms! There has been plenty of energy, enthusiasm and school spirit on display. We couldn’t be prouder of our students.

We were thrilled to welcome Maddy from the AFLW to work with our girls last week. The session focused on teamwork, resilience, confidence and having a go. It was wonderful to see our students asking thoughtful questions, building skills and embracing the opportunity to try something new.  We hope it sparked inspiration and perhaps even a future footy star or two!

Thank you for supporting the Casual Clothes Day fundraiser for our Gugu Canteen. The students can now spend their Gugu stickers at the canteen which is always a hit!

The students enjoyed rehearsing and performing in our Start Up Program. The Grade 5 students did a wonderful job supporting the Prep students and the Grade 6’s enjoyed performing at their last ‘Start Up’.

Students have now taken their school computers home, providing they have been paid for and have a cover. If you have queries or concerns regarding the payment, please contact Sonia at the office.

Please help your child remember to:

Charge them each night

Bring them to school every day

Store them safely in their protective case

Homework is distributed each Monday and is due back by Friday (Thursdays for our Big Write). We encourage families to support students in developing a consistent routine throughout the week.

Next fortnight...

In week five and six we will be learning about prefixes and persuasive writing during our Literacy time. In Maths the focus will be Measurement (Time) along with Addition and Subtraction. We have our first Science lesson next week so please ask us about what strand we are learning this term as it is different in every classroom and our Topics unit on 'Democracy' will continue.

As always, thank you for your continued support.

Warm regards,

5/6 Team
