All Things Hub

Springvale Rise Primary School Community Hub

Welcome to 2026, everyone! It’s hard to believe we are already in the second month of the new year. We are thrilled to embark on another year at the Community Hub and have many exciting activities planned!

Hub programs begin on Monday February the 23rd and that in the meantime we will be contacting existing hub families to enrol into our hub programs.  A reminder, to participate in any of our hub programs this year we ask that all hub participants obtain a Volunteer Working with Children Check (WWCC). It is free to apply and you can do so online through the website or in-person through Australia post (In-person applications for Working with Children Checks | vic.gov.au (www.vic.gov.au)). If you would like assistance in applying for this card, please give me a call to arrange a time so I can help you.

We have many exciting programs planned for this year, including our new Ready for Hospitality course. Ready for Hospitality is an adult education program designed for delivery by Learn Locals to introduce learners to the hospitality industry. This course delivered by Springvale Neighbourhood House will explore topics such as food handling, hygiene, customer service, and communication skills, with further training in espresso coffee making. So, if you have always wanted to learn how to operate a coffee machine or have been thinking about owning a restaurant one day, this course is for you!

In addition to our new courses, we are delighted to welcome a new partner to deliver our English classes, AMES Australia. AMES Australia is a long-established community organisation that supports people who are new to Australia, particularly refugees and migrants. For over 70 years, they have helped families learn English, find work, understand life in Australia, and connect with local communities.

At the Heights campus, AMES will be delivering Level 1 English classes twice a week, as well as a Level 2 Digital Essentials class where families will explore how to use their smartphones to connect with services such as booking appointments online and completing online applications. It is a great opportunity to meet new people while learning English at the same time, and the best part is that all classes are free, so we encourage you to join us.

It is also important to note that there has been a change in how the Hub is run this year. At the Springvale campus, only past and present Springvale Rise Primary School and NPELS families may attend programs. At the Heights campus, it will now be open to everyone, including the wider Springvale community. These changes have been made to reflect our commitment to child safety and we thank you for supporting us during this transition.
