A Spotlight on Learning

A Spotlight on Learning in the SLC on Springvale Campus
What a fantastic start to 2026 we’ve had in the SLC! From day one, our spaces have been buzzing with energy, collaboration, and a shared commitment to achieving our best. A key focus has been creating a safe, calm, and predictable learning environment where all students can learn. This has meant revisiting whole-school routines such as the safety line and teaching lines, helping students move confidently and smoothly throughout the day so that they are ready to learn.
The SLC teachers are so proud of how quickly our Year 5 students have embraced their new roles as leaders of our school. Their enthusiasm and willingness to follow agreed routines and expectations has made a real difference in the smooth running of our learning spaces. Even more impressive has been the way our Year 6 students have stepped up by supporting their younger peers and modelling the behaviours that help everyone feel safe and organised.
Something we are especially excited about in the SLC is the upcoming leadership applications for our second group of student leaders. This is always a highly anticipated time, filled with growth, reflection, and confidence-building for our students. The students of the SLC will be exploring what makes an effective leader, reflecting on their own achievements, and learning how to clearly communicate their strengths in their speeches. Alongside this, students are developing their public speaking skills, sharing their ideas with confidence and pride. The SLC teachers have been incredibly impressed by the talent on display and are looking forward to hearing the inspiring speeches that highlight both the students’ excellence and their growing self-belief.
