From the Principal's Desk

We come together at the beginning of a new year as a community of faith, hope and learning. Both individually and together, we embrace the teachings of Jesus – to share our gifts; to be people of love and peace, people of justice and compassion, people of mercy and forgiveness, people who strive for ourselves, others and our community. People who are willing to Rise and Shine in whatever 2026 brings our way.
The popular "rise and shine" Bible quote comes from Isaiah 60:1: "Arise, shine, for your light has come, and the glory of the Lord rises upon you". It's a call to step out of darkness and reflect God's glory, symbolising hope, new beginnings, and boldness in God’s presence, even amidst difficult circumstances, encouraging believers to shine.
RESURRECTION SCHOOL- OUR GOLDEN YEAR
This year is our school’s 50th Anniversary. The school theme for 2026 is Rise and Shine. Our theme encourages everyone to start each day in a positive way and give their best at all times and in all places. In each classroom there will be a shiny, gold 50th Anniversary poster to remind everyone to shine. We are all invited to Rise and Shine in every area of our lives- learning, wellbeing, as a learner, a team member, a student, a parent, a staff member, a member of the Resurrection community, a friend, a family member.
Our year commenced on Tuesday with a day of focused professional learning for all staff (School Closure Day). This day set the scene for the year ahead as staff engaged in collaborative teamwork. Thank you to the staff for the work that was done throughout January in preparation for the new school year.
The assessment days this week are of great benefit to both students and teachers. They offer the opportunity for one-on-one time during which students and teachers communicate and work together to complete English and Maths tasks. This allows learning groups and goals to be set with minimal disruption to class time.
Tomorrow, and throughout Week 2, students and classes will spend time getting to know one another through a variety of activities aimed at honouring each class member as an individual with a unique background and special gifts.
Please check the school's Google Calendar and Compass regularly as these are the platforms for communication between school and home. Important dates are included in the Bulletin (even weeks of the school term) and the Newsletter (odd weeks of the school term).
Our Beginning of the School Year Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, February 11th at 9.30a.m. Please join us.
We welcome all new students, families and staff to the Resurrection School community. We are sure that you will find our school to be a vibrant and welcoming place.
FARM 2 TABLE PROGRAM- help needed
We are pleased that our Farm 2 Table Program will continue this year under the leadership of Fran Nawarathna. The Program will be on Wednesdays starting on February 11th with Year 6AH. Last year we were fortunate to have the support of a parent for the food preparation through to clean up, which enabled the smooth running of each event. If you are available to assist with Farm 2 Table, please contact the Office.
This year, our school day will begin at 8.45a.m. The school gates will open at 8.35a.m. The first bell will ring at 8.40a.m. and learning programs will begin at 8.45a.m. This change allows our Specialist lessons to be one hour duration (Physical Education, Italian, Performing Arts and Visual Arts). The school day concludes at 3.20p.m.
BEFORE AND AFTER SCHOOL
A staff member will be on duty at the Corrigan Road school entrance and Gate 7 at the back of the school from 8.35-8.50a.m. and 3.20-3.30p.m.
Children are not to arrive at school before 8.35am as there is no supervision.
PUNCTUALITY:
Classrooms will be open from 8:35am. The first bell will ring at 8.40a.m, the second bell will ring at 8.45a.m. and all students are expected to be in class ready to start the ‘Let’s Learn Program.’ Any student arriving after 8.50a.m. MUST go to the Office with an adult and get a Late Pass. Please make punctuality and attendance at school your priorities.
UNIFORM:
At Resurrection School, all students are required to wear the correct uniform. This includes black shoes (school shoes or plain black runners) which need to be worn TO and FROM school every day and the Resurrection School bag. On PE days, the Sports Uniform is to be worn. This consists of sports shoes, T-shirt in House colour, and blue shorts or tracksuit pants. Sports shoes can be brought to school on any other day but must only be worn at recess and lunch times.
As part of our SunSmart Policy, students must wear their Resurrection School hats when they are outside. We have a ‘No hat, no play’ policy and students are required to sit in a shaded area if they do not have their hat.
Hair needs to be tied back if below students’ shoulders.
Jewellery: Only studs or sleepers can be worn, no other jewellery.
Please ensure that all clothing is clearly named.
Students are expected to have a full water bottle at school every day.
Year 6 students may wear their t-shirt, however, long sleeve shirts are not to be worn underneath.
MOBILE PHONES, SMART WATCHES and CAMERAS:
Students may not bring smart devices to school. Mobile phones and smart devices must be left in the Office at the beginning of the day and collected at the end of the day.
ABSENCE:
As part of our legal responsibility, all student absences require a note or electronic notification to the Office. Parents/carers need to advise the Office via Compass. email or by phone whenever a student is arriving late or leaving early. If your child will be absent from school for an extended period of time, for example, a holiday, you are required to notify/advise the school in writing.
We are looking forward to the 2026 school year, journeying in partnership with students and families as we Rise and Shine for our 50th Anniversary.
