Assistant Principal's Report

Dear Parents and Carers,
What a wonderful beginning to 2026 for our students and staff!
We welcome both our returning students and those new to our school community, especially our Foundation students who have completed their first week of school. A special congratulations to Kat, Shona and Rob and our Foundation families for the support they have provided to ensure a smooth and positive transition to BEPS. We are looking forward to an exciting year ahead as we continue to Learn. Create and Inspire.
Student Photos Wednesday 11th of February
All families should have received information about school photos via Compass. Please note that they will only accept online orders. If you require further assistance, please contact the Advancelife office on 1300 728 972.
We ask that students come in full school uniform on the day.
Principal Learning Awards (PLA)
Each Term teachers recognise students who have shown exemplary skills, values or habits by awarding them with a Principal Learning Award. At the last School Assembly, we acknowledged the Term 4, 2025 PLA winners and next week (Tuesday), we will celebrate their achievement with a special pizza lunch.

SunSmart
Burwood East is proudly a SunSmart school. We require students and staff to wear hats outdoors from mid-August to the end of April as per the SunSmart Policy. During this time, students are expected to wear a broad-brimmed hat while outdoors. Students without a hat will be asked to play in the COLA. We also encourage the use of sunscreen (BYO), protective clothing and shade whenever possible.
Term 1 ‘Meet & Greet the Teacher’- Foundation to Year 6 (Week 4)
In the coming days, you will be able to book in a time to meet with your child’s teacher via Compass. The ‘Meet the Teacher’ meetings are a great opportunity for students to share some of their learning goals for the year and for us to develop stronger relationships between the school and our families. We strongly encourage all families to make a time with the child’s teacher during these days.
Traffic Management: Reminder to Model Safe Behaviour
The safety of our students and community is a priority. We ask all families to support safe traffic practices before and after school by using the supervised school crossing and crossing at the traffic lights where provided. We ask that parents please do not walk on the road or between parked cars in drop-off and pick-up zones while vehicles are moving. Pedestrian gates should always be used when entering and exiting the school grounds. We also remind families to follow all parking signs, observe no-stopping zones, and adhere to road rules, including the 40 km/h school speed zone during designated times. Thank you for helping us keep our school community safe.
Reminder: School Gates are locked at 9.05 am – Please enter through the front pedestrian gate at the office area.
Thanks Edwina and Teri
