I am thrilled to be able to share some great images that were taken during last year’s city scavenger hunt that didn’t make it into the final Whispers edition.

As part of preparing our students to navigate the city independently this year, they were given the chance to explore some of Melbourne’s most iconic locations with their homegroup and teachers. The day was designed to build confidence, curiosity and a sense of responsibility as students moved safely between key landmarks.

Along the way, they completed a series of fun challenges: capturing graffiti art in Hosier Lane and debating whether it should be considered art or vandalism; hunting through the State Library for a book that symbolised “growth”; and even snapping a sneaky “spy photo” inside an RMIT lecture theatre - conveniently numbered 007.

The feedback from students was overwhelmingly positive. Many shared that the experience made them feel excited for Year 9, and they appreciated the sense of independence the program is beginning to offer them. I hope their expectations were met during our Year 9 Retreat Day.

I look forward to welcoming parents at our Parent Information Night on 11 February. This evening provides an opportunity to meet your child’s Home Group teacher and begin a strong, collaborative partnership that plays an important role in supporting your child’s success throughout the year.
