Principal Update

Melissa Mackenzie

“The Day We All Grew Up” was performed by our Year 2-6 students last night and what an amazing celebration of Dance and Performing Arts it was. The confidence of our students and their dancing and acting skills certainly made it a night to remember.

Thanks to the STOMP teachers Issy and Kira, thanks to Megan and Alan and also Shane for all of the work to polish the performance and give another opportunity for our students to shine.

Nuts at School

We’ve had a few parents asking about our policy on nuts. We ask parents to be thoughtful about putting nuts into their children’s food. We have students with allergies to nuts and also children who consume nuts as part of their diet. With this in mind we ask that if you do send your children with nut products please alert the class teacher so that they can make the appropriate arrangements in the classroom.

RU OK? Day

RU OK? Day was acknowledged last week. Thanks to the team of parents who organized a coffee cafe to start the day. I would like to acknowledge the caring community we live and work in. It was great to see so many parents talking and enjoying the morning.

Trivia Night

We’ve also had a hugely successful Trivia Night in the gym a couple of weekends ago. A tremendous thanks to the organizing team who worked tirelessly to plan, decorate, organize and work together to create this event. The money raised will be going towards our next project which is the resurfacing of the basketball court.

Student Achievements

I often say our students have so much potential… some accolades for them from the term: Both teams in the ‘Print A Car’ challenge have made it through to round 2. They are competing against secondary students and with Brody’s guidance will perform extremely well again; The team who submitted an entry into the Maths Competition have been rewarded with a High Distinction for their work. Shane and two of the group will attend the ceremony to collect their award later in the year. We had over 50 students compete in the Premiers Spelling Bee and we also had over 50 students compete in the Australian Maths Competition. We had 14 students head to the Divisional Athletics last week and have continued to compete in the Interschool Sporting Rounds with local schools. We had some Year 4’s lead the cereal drive which culminated in a domino run with 74 boxes of cereal being donated to a Homeless Shelter.

There are likely to be many more achievements from the term and once again I would like to thank you for your support and thanks you to all the staff who make these things happen.

Have a lovely restful break and see you next term
