Assistant Principal

Year 11 & 12

Congratulations to our wonderful year 12 VCE students who enjoyed a spectacular Celebrations Day last Friday. Despite the rainy conditions, the students made the most of the day at Fun Fields.  These young adults made us all incredibly proud in the manner in which they celebrated and enjoyed this final school week with their friends and teachers. Their conduct was nothing short of exemplary and for many this turned to be an emotional journey, with the realization that their 13 years of formal schooling was coming to an end. Several students I spoke with commented that they had been together with the same friends since their kindergarten years! As tradition dictates, on their last days of year 12, the school Captains provide an address to the rest of the student community, and this year both Deveraux Kalauni and Junior Lauina delivered a most heartfelt and sincere messages gratitude and best wishes to their fellow class of 24.

This speech will stand as one of the most poignant captain speeches I have had the privilege to hear, during my time here as Assistant Principal at Lalor. By the time of its conclusion, there was hardly a dry eye to be seen. Clearly, their legacy as school captains and strong, considered role models they had become to the wider student group will remain strong in or memories. Their speeches will be printed in the college magazine for all to read. Congratulations Junior and Deveraux. You have made us all proud. Indeed, they reflect the mature and community minded spirit of this entire year level. We are extremely proud of all our wonderful year 12 students. They have upheld the college values each and every day, and it is with great pride that we celebrate this final week of school alongside them.

The senior school team and I, would like to wish our VCE students all the best of luck for their approaching exams, beginning with English on Tuesday 29 th October. I am certain that our students will have the necessary confidence in their preparation and hard work to approach these coming exams with positivity and diligence. We wish you great success in the path you choose beyond Lalor Secondary College. Your growing resilience and strong spirit will place you favourably in realizing your future pathways and life goals. Be sure to remain in touch with us here at LSC and keep us updated on all the wonderful opportunities that are sure to come your way.

We will have a final formal opportunity to farewell and celebrate the achievements of these fabulous year 12 students at this year’s Graduation Ceremony on December the 16th, when we look forward to enjoying a dinner with students and their families at Ferraro Receptions.

Year 11 students will have their last day of formal classes on Friday November 1st, with a period of preparation for their exams in the weeks which follow. Congratulations to the following year 11 students who took the opportunity to nominate for various school captains’ positions.

Zohaib Zulgarain, Manita Pen, Sanja Duleska, Minh Tran, Jayden Chau, Leo Kostovski and Tai Tinoi. The year 11 and 12 student groups were presented with their speeches during a special assembly held last Thursday. We look forward to vote counting and the announcement of the captains for 2025 in the coming weeks.

I would also like to take this opportunity to thank parents and careers for your ongoing support of the college throughout this past year, partnering alongside us is critical in ensuring our students achieve their very best.

Best wishes,

Laura Forster
