T3 Highlights:  Year 5

What We've Been Doing

Year Five students have had a busy term. As part of the Civics and Citizenship program they looked at how decisions are made. To enact this, students democratically voted to exercise for 15 minutes four mornings each week. Students found the exercises, coordination and concentration required difficult to start with but were experts by the end of the term.

Other highlights were planning a trip in the September holidays by using public transport to ArtVo in the Docklands. They used the PTV Trip Planner and were able to work out the elapsed times between arrivals and departures, took themselves off to a restaurant and worked out the total cost of the day including their meal. Some students are planning to test their mathematical skills with their parents, shadowing them over the holidays.

We finished off Science this term by creating papier mâché models of new animal species that had specific structural, physiological and behavioural features that allow them to survive in a given environment.
