Principal's Report
Dear families,
And so concludes a long term. As the football and netball seasons reach their climax in the finals, I would like to wish all players from the St Brigid’s community good luck (or congratulations to those who have already played). For a small school we certainly are over-represented in local sporting pursuits. I have noticed, perhaps more than previous years, that our students and staff are very tired at the moment and this is manifesting in absences due to illness and short tempers. The holidays have come at the right time and I wish staff members and students a restful break and a chance to recharge their batteries ahead of term four. Best wishes to our Year 12 students who are completing their final, internal assessments, with many undertaking trial exams during the holidays.
Today we farewell Mr Luke Werner who has moved into a non-teaching role in the Department of Education. Luke has been a calm and wise addition to our Leadership Team this year and he will be greatly missed. Ms Victoria McCann also begins her maternity leave in Term 4 and we wish her and Joshua many blessings with the approaching birth. This week I have also been informed by Ms Dianne Richards that she will retire effective immediately. We thank Di for the care she has shown our students. I am excited to announce that I have recruited two new, energetic and experienced educators for 2025 and I am in negotiations with others.
Next term we are trialling an exciting online canteen option for families. I draw your attention to the information regarding this further in today’s newsletter.
Together with Lowes, we have finalised the new uniform items and we expect students to begin moving into the correct shorts, socks and T-shirts throughout term 4 in readiness for 2025.
As mentioned in the last newsletter, the building works are well underway and I am sure the students will see dramatic changes when they return in Term 4. To enable the completion of demolition, the school will be closed next week as the hygienists remove historical asbestos from the flooring and walls of the old wing. Students, parents and staff are asked to remain off site next week and the office will be closed.
Finally, I would like to pray for God’s blessings for all families in the St Brigid’s community and a safe and restorative break. Go Cats!
Stay safe
