Specialists Curriculum 

At St Thomas

At our school, all teachers are dedicated to providing a comprehensive educational experience.  This class based learning is shared in the community pages. 

 

In order to provide families with more information each week one of our amazing specialist teachers will update this page to provide a snapshot of the other learning our children are engaged in.

 

Classroom Teachers currently teach the following subjects:

  • Religious Education: Promoting spiritual growth and understanding of faith.
  • English: Fostering literacy skills in reading, writing, speaking, and listening.
  • Mathematics: Developing numeracy and problem-solving abilities.
  • Auslan: Introducing and expanding proficiency in Australian Sign Language.
  • Integrated Studies: Exploring a variety of interdisciplinary topics, including history, geography, civics and citizenship, music, drama and Dance. (Divided across a two year cycle)
  • Social and Emotional Learning (SEL): Equipping students with essential life skills in emotional regulation, empathy, and social interactions.

In addition to the subjects taught by class teachers, our school also offers a range of specialist lessons designed to enrich the students’ learning experience:

 

Specialist Teachers currently teach the following subjects:

 

Sport: Promoting physical fitness, teamwork, and healthy lifestyle habits across all year levels.

 

Visual Arts: For students from Foundation to Year 4, encouraging creativity and self-expression through various art forms.

 

 

Media Arts: For students in Years 5 and 6, focusing on developing skills in digital storytelling, media production, and communication.

STSS (Science, Technology, Sustainability, and Stewardship): This two-hour weekly block provides hands-on learning in science and technology, with a strong focus on environmental stewardship and sustainable practices.

These specialist lessons are selected by the school to ensure a well-rounded education that nurtures both academic and personal growth.
