Year Four - Spotlight on Learning

Dear Parents,

 

Welcome back to our final term of the year. We are very excited about the learning that is set to occur this term and hope the students enjoy what we have planned. This week student

 

Already students have dived into learning around multiplication and division, the art of puppetry, the rights of children and reading our new novel “The Wild Robot.” 

 

Religious Education focus: Students will be focusing on the Catholic Social Teaching of the “Dignity of the Human Person” and explore different occasions when Jesus modelled mission as service.

 

Mathematics focus: Students will be working on developing their knowledge on bar models and how they can be used to represent and solve multiplication and division problems. 

 

English focus: This week students will dive deeper into our class novel “The Wild Robot” and discover if Roz can make a friend even though she is a robot. Students will develop sentences that use connectives to link arguments, evidence and reasons. 

 

Social/ Emotional Learning & RRRR: Students will develop their understanding of the word ‘respect’ and demonstrate what they think respect looks like in a range of situations.

 

Auslan: This week students will be learning the signs for pets E.g. bird, dog, cat. See if your child might be able to sign “Do you have pets?” throughout the week.

  • Friday 13th December - Last Day of Formal Classes Foundation to Year Five
  • Monday 16th December - No Formal Classes - Clean up Day

First Communion

At the conclusion of Term 3, a number of Year 4 students received the sacrament of Communion/First Eucharist. We would like to congratulate these children on this special occasion and continuing their Catholic Faith Journey.
