Leadership Communication

Springing into the remainder of 2024

It is wonderful to be enjoying some sunshine and drier weather. The students are watching the leaves appear on our trees and discovering that finally some trees are large enough to offer shade, a seat or unusual growth patterns.

The school has requested a landscape masterplan from Jeavons Landscaping to allow us to plan for developing the school yard and giving our students greater amenity and play opportunities.

During this term many communities have exciting events planned including theatre visits, camp etc. We are looking forward to our Carols and family evening in December which will allow us all to celebrate a wonderful year together.

Our students will continue to be working hard on their learning throughout this term. Our progress monitoring is showing that students are making excellent improvements in their learning with our increased focus on a structured literacy and numeracy program. This combined with clear and consistent expectations for students has made classrooms calmer and more predictable places in which to learn. Each student is making a valued contribution to the classroom culture and increasingly confident to voice where things are working or not working for them with a solution focus.

School organisation for 2025 is underway. At this stage we do not anticipate any significant change to levels, community structure, leadership or timetables. We are awaiting information from staff about their plans for 2025 and will adjust as required. We have been informed of the resignations of the following staff who have been on leave in 2024:

Mrs Jannah Reid and Mrs Sarah Thompson. We thank both Jannah and Sarah for their time at St Thomas the Apostle and wish them well in their future endeavours.

We will continue to share information with families as it becomes available.

Spring brings on new growth

With our newly planted garden next to the Bethlehem Building, we have selected herbs, lavender and kangaroo paws that smell and feel nice to lead into a sensory garden as it develops. Hopefully with more natives, bush tucker and citrus to follow!
