Rugby Report

Our Girls Rugby season concluded last week with some amazing results. It has been a tough season for our girls competing in the Chloe Dalton Cup. Six consecutive trips to Sydney can be very taxing on players and staff, however the commitment shown by all involved has led to some amazing achievements. Our U16B’s were crowned undefeated Champions.

This amazing team didn’t lose a game throughout the Chloe Dalton Cup nor their trial season. Our U14A’s were also crowned the 2024 Champions. The Grand Final came down to extra time golden point and with only 7 seconds remaining the girls got the job done. A brilliant result for these girls, many of whom are in their first year of Rugby.

In other results our Opens finished in 3rd place, our U16A’s were runners up and our U14B’s completed their season in 4th place. This was the first year Girls Rugby was offered as a full winter sport and the KWS Rugby Community is very proud of all the girls have achieved.

Last Friday we held our Rugby Presentation evening. It was a wonderful night where we were able to reflect on the 2024 season. Many stories were shared and recognition was given to some very worthy students. Attached is a list of Award winners. Many laughs were shared and stories told and the whole evening was a celebration of our KWS Rugby family. I would like to thank all our Coaches, players and their parents for being part of a truly special evening.

Hockey Report

What a fantastic year of hockey it’s been! The way our teams played each week is a testament to both the coaches and players. Every player should be incredibly proud of their efforts.

Congratulations to the U16 Royal team who played their grand final last Monday. While they didn’t secure the win, the team has every reason to hold their heads high. It was a fantastic season —well done to all of you!

The 1sts also had an incredible season making it to the Preliminary Final. Unfortunately, they lost in extra time, but they put in a hard fight and played a great game of hockey. With just four losses during the regular season, they finished as Minor Premiers—an outstanding achievement for such a young team and is an exciting sign of what’s to come for our hockey.

Phoebe Lyons was also recognised, being named Orange Hockey Sportsperson of the Year. Her consistent performance throughout the season made her an integral part of both the U16 Royals and the 1sts teams. Phoebe's dedication and skill shone through in every game. In addition to her contributions to our teams, Phoebe has been selected for several representative teams including: WAS U15s, AICES U15s, AICES Opens, Orange 14s and 16s, the NSW Futures program, and most recently, the U14 NSW Team. Another outstanding accomplishment—well done, Phoebe!

Thank you to Jo Hunter for all her organisation throughout the hockey season. The time and effort she put into making everything work is exceptional and we really appreciate her hard work.

It’s been an amazing year, and I look forward to the 2025 Hockey season.

Netball Report

Kinross Wolaroi Netball has enjoyed an impressive and exciting finals series, capping off a remarkable season of hard work, determination, and teamwork. Thirteen teams proudly qualified for the first round of finals, showcasing the depth of talent and commitment across the club. From these teams, eight advanced to the semi-finals, with the 14Cs securing a direct path to the Grand Final after an outstanding season.

In the semi-finals, five of our eight teams secured victories, earning their places in the highly anticipated Grand Finals last weekend alongside the 14Cs. The competition was fierce, with players demonstrating skill, resilience, and sportsmanship in every match. Ultimately, three teams emerged victorious, bringing home well-deserved titles: congratulations to the 13Cs, 15Bs, and 14Cs for their incredible achievements. These wins are a testament to their hard work throughout the season and their ability to perform under pressure.

Although the 3rds, 13As, and 15Ds finished as runners-up, they displayed exceptional spirit and determination on the court. Their efforts and commitment to their teams were evident, and they can be proud of their achievements this season. Each team played with heart and represented the club with distinction.

To celebrate the successful season, we held our first-ever Netball Presentation Night at the Ex-Services Club, a fitting end to a fantastic year. It was a wonderful evening filled with celebration, laughter, and recognition of the accomplishments of all our teams and players. This year marked a special moment as all teams returned to the Orange Netball Competition, highlighting the strength and resilience of the Kinross Wolaroi School Netball community.

The night celebrated the outstanding efforts of our players, with awards presented to those who made significant contributions to their teams. Congratulations to all players who were honoured with Players’ Player and Coaches’ Awards—your hard work and dedication have not gone unnoticed.

Special recognition was given to five people who have made outstanding contributions this year. Annabel Swift was named Umpire of the Year, Phoebe Paynter received Junior Player of the Year, Grace Simpson was awarded Senior Player of the Year, Xanthe Keegan was honoured as Coach of the Year, and Holly Wilson was celebrated as Clubperson of the Year. These awards reflect the invaluable impact these individuals have had on our school's success.

Thank you to all players, coaches, and supporters for your dedication and passion this season. We look forward to building on this success next year and can’t wait to see what the next season brings.
