Boarding Update

Boarding Leadership

Over the last few weeks, we have had the opportunity to celebrate our outgoing Year 12 students and their contribution to the fabric of boarding life across our whole school community. It has been a time of reflection and has allowed for the chance to both thank our outgoing Year 12 students for their contribution whilst celebrating the handover to our leadership group for 2025.

On Sunday evening, the whole boarding community gathered together to join for a celebratory Chapel service and induction of our new Student Leaders. Our outgoing boarding Captains, Aimee Zell and James Cooper gave stirring addresses about the power of boarding and the sense of satisfaction they felt in leading our community of students throughout 2024. Lincoln Robinson and Lily Bruce take on the mantel of Boarding Prefects for 2025 and we know they will do an excellent job in these important roles.

Mrs Whittemore and Mr Byrne addressed our students and gave powerful speeches about the nature of leadership. We would like to include some rousing words from our Head of Girls Boarding, Hannah Whittemore who addressed all our boarding students on Sunday evening. Often leadership is perceived as being recognized with a badge. At Kinross Wolaroi School, we believe true leadership is about more than simply a badge and students can lead with or without a title as long as they lead with character. For those with a badge and for those without please take heart from these words and demonstrate courage, inclusiveness, commitment, respect and resilience.

Stepping into leadership is a significant responsibility. It’s not just about wearing the title or being seen. It’s about showing up, every day, for your community. It’s about holding each other accountable, and yes, that starts with the little things — wearing the correct uniform, showing up for duties, helping to organise events, and leading by example. But more than that, it’s about embodying our values — not just in what we say, but in what we do. It’s about making the right choices, even when those choices are hard. True leadership is often uncomfortable, but it’s in those uncomfortable moments that real growth happens.
