Last week we were blown away by the talent and expertise that our Stage 3 students brought to the stage in our annual Junior School production of ‘The Grunch’. This event is a highlight on the school calendar and is an experience that brings joy and excitement to all involved.
Kindergarten, Year 1 and Year 2 opened out first evening with musical items, verse speaking, and an awesome dinosaur dance followed by Year 3 and Year 4 opening our second night with a highly entertaining series of performances that included; on stage synchronised swimming, contemporary dance and basketball beat. The evening was a testament to the effort and hard work of our teaching staff and their ongoing pursuit of excellence in all that we do at KWS. Performing Arts in the Junior School’s is a strong component of our offering.
Bands, ensembles, choirs, small group and individual tuition opportunities, as well as high quality and engaging weekly music lessons help provide a well-rounded program. This year we have tested our skills through strong participation in the Orange Eisteddfod program across the domains of choirs, bands, ensembles and verse speaking.
The annual Junior School P&F raffle was also drawn on the evening with over $7500 raised towards the school diving block initiative. We are blessed to have a such a strong and passionate team of parents that support our school. Thank you to the many families that contributed to the raffle and the diving block initiative.
Round Square schools share a commitment to character education and experiential learning built around six themes – our IDEALS – International understanding, Democracy, Environmental stewardship, Adventure, Leadership and Service. This year the Junior School has used the Round Square IDEALS as its framework for Year 6 Leadership experiences, including fundraising, student events, and service learning.
The Junior School hosted Round Square Day on Wednesday 25 September 2024. Year 6 planned activities for all year groups. The activities included:
• Pre-Kinder & Kindergarten: Main Oval Adventure organised by Gordon House
• Years 1 & 2: Ninja Warrior Course organised by Douglas House
• Years 3 & 4: KWS Amazing Race organised by Brown House
• Pre-Kinder-Year 6: Multicultural Food Stalls organised by McLachlan House
Thank you, Mrs Fatai and Ms Anderson, for planning and facilitating a fun and positive event to finish the term.
