Article by Will Young, Year 7 Leader
As we are nearing the end of the first semester, I wanted to take a moment to share some thoughts on how you can support your child’s education journey as they navigate this important stage of their learning.
Year 7 marks a significant transition for students. It is a time of new subjects, increased responsibilities, and growing independence. As much as students are learning in the classroom, they are also developing essential skills like time management, self-confidence, and resilience. Your role as parents and guardians is crucial in guiding and supporting them along the way.
Here are a few meaningful ways you can stay involved and positively impact your child’s educational development:
1. Maintain Open Communication
Encourage regular conversations about what your child is learning, what they’re enjoying, and what they might be finding challenging. Simply asking, “What was something interesting you learned today?” can open the door to deeper discussions and show them that their education matters to you.
2. Establish Routines
Creating a structured environment at home can make a big difference. A consistent routine that includes dedicated homework time, breaks, and healthy sleep habits helps students stay focused and reduces stress.
3. Support Homework and Study Habits
While it’s important to let students take ownership of their work, your encouragement and guidance are key. Offer to help them plan ahead for assignments, organise study sessions, and break down larger tasks into manageable steps.
4. Stay Connected with the School
We encourage you to stay in touch with teachers and read school communications. Our partnership with you is essential, and we value your insights and questions.
5. Celebrate Progress and Effort
Recognising your child’s efforts — not just achievements — helps build motivation and self-esteem. Celebrate small wins and remind them that learning is a journey that involves challenges and growth.
6. Encourage Curiosity and a Love of Learning
Support your child in exploring their interests outside the classroom — whether it’s through reading, creative projects, sports, or science experiments. A curious mindset is a powerful tool for lifelong learning.
As the Year Level Leader, I am here to support both our students and their families. Please don’t hesitate to reach out if you have any concerns or if there’s anything I can do to assist you or your child during this important year.
Thank you for your continued support and involvement. Together, we can make this a positive and enriching experience for all our Year 7 students.

Article by Natalie Miller – Year 5 Level Leader
On Wednesday 3rd June 2026, our Year 5 students enjoyed an exciting and memorable Wild Action Zoo Incursion, bringing the fascinating world of Australian wildlife directly into their learning environment.
Led by knowledgeable and enthusiastic wildlife educators, the session featured an impressive collection of native animals, including lizards, snakes, frogs, birds, and a variety of unique invertebrates. Students were captivated as they learned about each species, their habitats, behaviours, and the importance of conservation.
The incursion provided valuable support for our Year 5 Science Animal Adaptations unit. Students were able to observe firsthand the structural and behavioural adaptations that help animals survive in their environments. Seeing these unique features up close deepened their understanding of how animals have adapted to meet the challenges of their habitats.
One of the highlights of the incursion was the opportunity for students to get up close to the animals, with many having the chance to carefully touch or handle them under expert supervision. The experience sparked curiosity, encouraged thoughtful questions, and provided a hands-on learning opportunity that enriched their classroom studies.
The excitement and wonder displayed by our Year 5 students throughout the session was a joy to see. It was a valuable and engaging experience that will be remembered for years to come.
