WINTER GALA DAY

Soccer

'It was Wednesday, 10th of June at Casey Fields when Ramlegh Park’s Year 6's versed other schools in the best sport — Soccer. My team won twice, lost once, and drew once.

Anyway, our teamwork with passing was not the best, but when it came to creating chances, we were pretty good—especially with me, Chase, Bless, and Mehran Q on the same team, as we always play together. However, we did get a little frustrated with each other because of a couple of mistakes that I won’t name, which cost us the tournament.

What I liked was that all the boys came together, said sorry, and told each other to keep our heads up and focus on the next two matches. Those matches were tough.

At this year’s Winter Gala, the boys’ soccer team performed very well but only got one win and three losses. Even though we didn’t win many matches, our team showed excellent sportsmanship by shaking hands with the opposing team after each game, even when we lost.

Our day started when we arrived at the Livingston Recreation Centre. We played a very strong team first but beat them by two points, which gave us our first victory. We then had a 45-minute break before our next match, during which we practised our skills and worked out positions.

During that break, one of our best players was injured, but they persevered and played even better than before. In our next match, our opponents scored three points, while we managed only one. Our final two matches were losses, but even though we didn’t make the finals, we supported each other, lifted each other up, and stayed positive.'

AFL A Team

'It was Wednesday at Casey Fields when we all lined up to play the game we love. The first game started, and we were all pumped. After the first quarter, we were up by 20 points, and everything was going well.

However, things went downhill, and we ended up losing by 4 points. We were devastated, but we brushed it off and tried again.

In the second game, Reath and I were like magnets to the ball, working really well as a team, and we won by 1 point. After that, we were tired and wanted a break, but it was the final game, so we gave it everything.

We kicked the ball long to Riley and handballed well as a team, and we ended up winning by 4 points. Overall, it was a great day—we all had fun and gave our best effort.'

AFL B Team

'In the AFL B team, we tried our best to win, but we didn’t win any matches. That’s okay because we never gave up, worked together, and kept moving forward.

In one match, Jaxon scored his first goal from the middle with great accuracy. As the day went on, we became a stronger team. In our final match, we showed lots of improvement.

Hasnain scored from the left side of the field, and Nathan scored an amazing goal from the far right. Jaxon also scored two great goals with strong kicks down the middle.

Even though we didn’t make the finals, we are proud of our teamwork and effort. Everyone got a chance to play, and we’re proud of how we performed as a team.'

Tee-ball Girls

'At the Winter Gala, the Tee Ball girls’ team won all four games we played, including the Grand Final. We are now going to division.

We played againstGerling, Clyde Grammar & Topirum.

Throughout the day, we stayed positive and focused on having fun rather than just winning or losing. We worked really well as a team. Daivi, Ekamnoor, and Jeel (me) played very well, scored lots of home runs, and got many outs.

One of my favourite moments was when the other team kept hitting the ball straight to me (the pitcher). I would then throw it to Daivi at first base to get the runners out.

I really enjoyed the day, even though I slipped at third base! We are all very excited for division, which is coming up soon.'

Tee-ball Boys

'On Gala Day at Casey Fields, we played Tee Ball in Group 1. It was a great day where we showed excellent teamwork and collaboration.

We had two draws and one win. Even though we finished with 4 points, we didn’t make the finals. However, the team showed great resilience, never gave up, and kept pushing forward.

We played against Topirum PS, Grayling PS, and Casey Grammar.

In our first game against Topirum PS, we almost lost but ended in a draw and gained 1 point. In our second game against Grayling PS, we also drew and gained another point. In our final game, we faced Casey Grammar. One of my teammates hit the ball very far, giving him enough time to run a home run for the team.'

Soccer Girls

'We are the girls’ soccer team from Gala Day, and we thought it was a great experience and lots of fun.

Although we didn’t win any matches, we did achieve one draw. This didn’t stop us from trying our hardest. No matter the outcome, we stayed proud and enjoyed our time. We showed great perseverance, even when things didn’t go our way.

One highlight of the day was seeing Nasya, Zoe, and Aleyna continue to participate in every game, even when they got injured. Another highlight was seeing former classmates who had left our school.

Mr T, our P.E. teacher, said, “Don’t give up, put your heart into it, and it doesn’t matter if you win or lose.” Our coach, Mx Doyle, also said, “Every Year 6 soccer team tried their best and showed great determination.”

Netball

'On Gala Day at Casey Stadium, we played netball as Group 2. The day went really well, with four wins and one loss. We worked together as a team and collaborated effectively.

Across our games, we scored a total of 16 points, and in our one loss, the score was 2 points.

During breaks, we socialised with other teams and played small games together. Riley F, Katahliyah, Mia, Ariana, Tina, Faith, Sazel, Azalia, and Naira all worked well as a team to attack, defend, and score.

We encouraged each other, gave constructive feedback when mistakes happened, and represented our school with excellent behaviour.'

Badminton

'At the Gala, we had a great time and played against many challenging schools, which made the experience even more exciting.

In the finals, our school played against Grayling Primary School. At the end, we waited to hear whether Ramlegh Park Primary School had come first or second.

To our surprise, we finished as runners-up.'

We are learning I can use brackets and the order of operations to write number sentences.
We are learning to find unknown values in numerical equations involving brackets and combinations of the 4 operations.
We are learning to find pairs of unknown values in numerical equations that make the equations balance.

WELLBEING

We are learning to demonstrate behaviours that positively influence relationships
We are learning to recognise how language/labels can cause offence
We are learning to compare respectful behaviours with bullying, racism and gender based violence.

REMINDERS

Camp deposit due Monday 15th June. Please log onto Compass to secure your place for camp. If you require financial assistance, please contact the office. If your child is not attending, please decline the event on Compass. We are looking forward to an amazing camp experience with everyone!

Uniform Reminder

We are still seeing students wearing black pants or shorts to school. A reminder that Ramlegh Park’s uniform is navy blue. With the weather getting colder in the mornings, we also remind families that while white or navy blue sleeves are fine, long black sleeves and hoodies are not to be worn under school uniforms.
