YEAR 2

FROM THE CLASSROOM

Year 2 students have enjoyed an informative (and short!) week this week, as we continue to work our way towards the end of the term.

For Writing we have continued to work on our tools and learning our new text about Unicorns. This week we focused on rhetorical questions and where we can see our tools in our text.

In Mathematics, students have been finishing up their learning on addition and subtraction. Over the semester they have been working on multiple strategies to solve addition and subtraction questions, and it has been wonderful to see them really thinking about which strategy fits the question they are working on. 

During Wellbeing lessons, students have explored how different qualities and traits in people can influence their perspectives, how to navigate tough choices and how to be mindful of this when engaging with others.

Continuing with our work in learning about our local community, students have been working in teams to brainstorm ideas to make the Clyde North of the future a cleaner, safer and more inclusive suburb for all. Students have been planning out their improvements for the suburb and have had some truly amazing and revolutionary ideas!

This week they will continue with this and will start to create some maps to put their plans into place.

REMINDERS

A Friendly Reminder About Morning Arrival Times

Children need to be in their classroom and ready to start the day by 8:35 am each morning.

We understand that occasionally unexpected circumstances may cause your child to arrive late. However, we have recently noticed an increase in the number of students arriving after 8:45 am.

When students arrive late, they miss important learning opportunities and often do not have enough time to unpack their belongings and organise themselves for the day. Late arrivals can also interrupt the learning of other students who have already started their morning activities.

The school gates open at 8:30am, and students are welcome to enter their classrooms from 8:35am.

We appreciate your support in helping your child arrive on time each day so they can begin the day feeling settled and ready to learn. If there is anything we can do to support your family with morning routines or arrival times, please don't hesitate to let us know.
