Parents' Association

Father’s Day Stall – a big thank you!

Yesterday we held the annual Father's Day stall in the hall.  It was a little earlier than usual so that everyone heading up to the Aerobics National Championships had the opportunity to buy a gift.

A big thank you to Helen, Michelle and Julie in the office for organising and wrapping the gifts.  And another big thank you to all the parents who assisted at the stall yesterday, helping students choose gifts, taking money and selling raffle tickets.  We couldn’t do it without you.

We still have some Father’s Day gifts and raffle tickets available at the office for anyone who missed out.  They can be purchased up until lunchtime on Friday.

Footy Day Lunch

Anyone interested in footy will know it’s time for Finals.  To celebrate, Syndal South has an Annual Footy Day where students come dressed in their team colours and the Parents’ Association run a Footy Day Lunch with hot dogs and drinks. This year, it’s a fundraiser for the GaGa Ball pit (I didn’t know what it was either but you can see it in action here:

https://www.gagagames.com.au/)

Do you have time on Friday the 20th September (last day of term) between 11am and 1pm to help with heating up and serving hot dogs?  We need around 8 people to cut up rolls, heat the frankfurts (pork and vegetarian options), and hand out the hot dogs and drinks to students.

Please sign up at volunteersignup.org/YJPED if you’re able to help.

PaperBird Books – amazing sales already!

Our PaperBird Book registry has been a big success and we’ve already sold nearly 50 books!  Thank you to everyone who has purchased a new book for our new library.  And some families have purchased 2, 3 or even 4 books which is so very generous of them.

PaperBird has just added some new books to the registry and taken off the books that have been purchased already. The new books have been recommended by our fantastic Literacy Consultant, Andrea Hillbrick.  Many of the books are award winners, and they cover a wide variety of topics and styles.

If you would still like to make a purchase from the registry and would like to choose one of Andrea’s recommendations, then all the of the books starting at number 37 “Accidentally Kelly Street” and down to number 53 “My Name is Not Refugee” are all from Andrea’s list.
