Applied Learning

The Applied Learning pathway is not for the faint of heart; our Year 12 cohort has outlined considerations for their younger peers to think about if they are interested in learning via this pathway:

  • Students must be able to collaborate and work together as a team
  • Students must embrace community-based activities
  • Work is project-based and primarily requires practical and hands-on skills
  • Students must have excellent time-management and organisational skills
  • Students must display outstanding customer service skills
  • Students must be interested in accelerating their transferrable skills and work-related skills to obtain a traineeship, apprenticeship or SBAT.

Earlier this term, we celebrated VM week through various practical activities catering to all students. These events were designed to showcase the engaging events that our students support but, more critically, highlight the work that takes place in the background to ensure a successful program. Thursday’s karaoke session proved that we have some hidden talent that should join the College Choir, and Friday’s session proved that VCE VM teachers can ‘get the job done’, becoming the champions of the activity and successfully building flat pack bookcases for the CLC.

Term three tested the strength of our year 12 VCE VM students, who were determined to complete their Unit Four coursework in 10 weeks. In their final weeks, we wish our Year 12 students the best of luck and congratulations on their commitment to learning and embracing this program alongside the VCE VM staff.
