Dear Families,
We hope that you have been enjoying the warmer weather over the last few days, even if it has been that little bit windy! We are slowly coming to the end of term, with only 3 weeks to go. Again, so many wonderful moments to celebrate this term.
PRAYER SPACE
Our Breath as Prayer by Jennifer Tucker for this week comes from Psalm 91:4 “He will cover you with his feathers. He will shelter you with his wings. His faithful promises are your armor and protection.” As a family, you may like to take some time to find a quiet space, read the Scripture passage, take some time to reflect and then follow the breathing words as you inhale and exhale.
BOOK WEEK CELEBRATIONS
A big Shepherd Shoutout to our Book Week committee Amira Hanna, Liz Sarpa and Alex Matzaris for their wonderful work this week. Book Week has been a big success with the launch at our Snuggle Up And Read afternoon, followed by our author visit, Sophie Laguna and culminating in our Book Week Parade. We saw so many amazing costumes ranging from so many different stories. Thank you to our staff for helping out at the book fair and a very big thank you to all of our families for buying so many books. All profits will go towards restocking our library.
PHOTO SHARING
Attending school events is such an important part of school life, and we appreciate that we want to capture these events with a photo memory. Alongside our child safe standards, we remind parents to only take photos or videos of your own children. If you are wanting to share any photos whether online or amongst friends, please ensure that you either blot out the faces of other children OR seek permission from the parents of whomever is in the photo if it is ok for you to share. We have had photos shared on WhatsApp groups without permission being asked. All parents have a right to choose whether they want their children’s photos being shared or not. When we share photos on our social media, we only share photos of students whose parents have given us permission. Thank you in advance for respecting this wish, and keeping our students safe online.
ONLINE SAFETY
I have been made aware that some of our students are watching inappropriate you tube clips whilst at home and are then coming to school sharing what they have seen. We ask that you remain vigilant with what your children are watching or what games they are playing and that the content is age appropriate. If you child comes home repeating what they have heard from someone else, we ask that you let us know or that you report it via the following website: https://www.esafety.gov.au/
FATHER’S DAY BREAKFAST
We have had an overwhelming response to our Father’s Day breakfast which is being hosted by OSH club. We are looking forward to welcoming you with your child/ren for breakfast. Raffle tickets will be sold during the morning and will be called at breakfast. Just a reminder that supervision does not start until 8:30 am so we ask that from 8:30, dad’s/father figure can walk their child/ren across to the school gates.
Happy Father’s Day to all of our school dads/step dads/ uncles/grandfathers who play an important part in the lives of our students.
PARENT ASSOCIATION
Thank you to our Parent Association for organising the Father’s day stall and Raffle and for also organising our special PIZZA lunch next Monday. If you can help out on the day, please fill in the form located on AUDIRI. The more hands, the merrier!
YEAR 4 CAMP
Our Year 4 students had a fabulous time at their school camp last week. They thoroughly enjoyed the beautiful surroundings as well as the various activities they tried. Congratulations to our staff and students on demonstrating our school qualities of BELONGING, COMPASSION and GROWTH towards each other, and towards the camp staff. Thank you to Mr P for always planning such amazing activities for our students.
TRACES OF LEARNING
Over the past 2 years we have been unpacking Kath Murdoch's model of Inquiry when we are learning about particular curriculum areas such as Science, Geography etc. We have also visited many schools that have embedded different models of Inquiry.
In Term 4, we are excited to implement the Traces of Learning Inquiry Model to support our educators to plan authentic and engaging inquiry projects in our Prep to 2 community (2025) and Years 3 to 6 (Term 4, 2024). In order for our teachers to be well placed to implement TOL model, our Year 3-6 teachers will be taking part in a whole day professional learning on Friday 6th September. On that day our Year 3-6 classes will have crts covering all classes.
Have a wonderful week ahead.
Thank you,
Carmela
Wishing all families a wonderful week,
Carmela
