Principal’s Message
Mrs Claire Ryan
Dear Parents and Carers,
Welcome to Week 5's newsletter.
Firstly, I sincerely thank each staff member, student, and parent for making my first year as Principal a wonderful experience. This helped to make my decision to reapply for the position of Principal an easy one. It is with great joy that I accept the position of Principal at Sacred Heart for the coming years.
I am immensely proud of the strong team we have built at Sacred Heart. The collaborative efforts of the staff have been instrumental in ensuring high-quality teaching and learning for each student. It is this spirit of teamwork that I believe sets us apart, and I am grateful for each member's dedication.
Our most significant impacts are seen with the children here at Sacred Heart. They are the reason that we teachers come to school each day and why we chose education as our career. Over the past eight months, I have enjoyed watching each student grow spiritually, academically, and emotionally.
I am committed to our continued successes at Sacred Heart School over the coming years. With our collective efforts, I am confident that we will achieve even greater milestones and provide the best learning environment for our students.
I am grateful for the trust and confidence shown in me by the Director of Armidale Catholic Schools, Ms Regina Menz, as reflected in this letter of appointment she has shared.
Book Week - Reading is Magic
Tomorrow, we celebrate Book Week with our annual Book Week Parade. Today, there was a buzz in the air as the children shared the characters they were dressing up as for tomorrow. We invite all parents, carers, and special visitors to join us and share in the magic of reading tomorrow morning at 9:15am.
Principal's Meeting
I will attend the Armidale Diocesan Principal's Meeting in Tamworth later this week. Over the three days, I will work with other Principals from our Diocese and the Armidale Catholic Schools Leadership Team to develop my knowledge of Principal Leadership, School Financials, the Living Well Learning Well Framework, and effective Annual Improvement Plan processes. I will also have the opportunity to attend a spiritual retreat that allows time for reflection and prayer in a safe space where participants can experience complete renewal and gain a high level of self-knowledge.
Transition to Kindergarten - Little Stars
We look forward to welcoming our Transition to Kindergarten students to Sacred Heart School this Friday. Our transition program is designed to nurture the whole child, focusing on academic, social, emotional, spiritual and physical development. We provide a rich and engaging curriculum that encourages exploration, creativity, and a love for learning. We aim to foster a strong foundation in literacy, numeracy and other essential skills through hands-on activities, interactive play, and guided instruction.
If you know of families in our community who are seeking access to a Transition to Kindergarten program, please don't hesitate to ask them to contact our school office.
Enrolments for 2025
We have opened enrolments for 2025. If you know of families in our community who want their children to attend Sacred Heart school, please don't hesitate to ask them to contact our school office so they can collect an enrolment form.
School Improvement Survey
An annual satisfaction survey of parents, students and staff will be conducted on behalf of all Catholic schools in the Diocese this term. The surveys are designed to gather feedback from parents, staff, and students about our school and will be used to inform about school improvement. Responses are confidential, and individuals can not be identified. The surveys will be launched via email on Monday, 26 August 2024, using the email addresses supplied to the school. If you do not receive an email with a link to the survey, don't hesitate to contact the school to receive a direct link. The survey will close on Wednesday, 4 September 2024.
Wishing everyone a productive and rewarding Week 5!
Please do not hesitate to reach out if you have any further questions or concerns.
Warm regards,
Claire Ryan
