Grade 1/2 News
Welcome to another busy week in Grade 1/2 !
In writing, our Year 1/2 students have been exploring informative explanation texts.
They have been learning about bees, particularly how honey is made, to create their own informative texts explaining the process of how bees transform nectar into honey.
Students have been editing their writing to ensure appropriate sentence-level grammar, word choice, spelling, and punctuation. In reading, students have been applying comprehension skills such as predicting, inferring, visualising, connecting, and summarising to enhance their understanding during lessons.
In numeracy, students have been investigating the concept of ‘mass’.
They engaged in hands-on learning experiences using scales to identify objects as heavier, lighter, or equal to each other in their everyday lives.
Students also used their ‘hefting’ skills to decipher weight differences between objects.
During our weekly ‘Everyday Science’ lessons, students connected their literacy learnings about bees to discover life-cycle patterns and how insects can change from one form to another.
We congratulate the students who received achievement awards and commend them for their respectful, responsible, and safe choices within our school.
A big pat on the back to our Bernie Trophy winners, 1/2 Bettio and 1/2 Lancaster!
We will be waiting eagerly to find out which class takes the Bernie Trophy back to their room next time!
