Foundation News
Our Foundation students had such a great day last Wednesday with our Grandparents liturgy and morning tea.
They were so enthusiastic to read to their special person(s) and share their work along with their classroom, and in some cases every part of the Foundation area and playground!
It was such a special day to celebrate the connection, love and teaching that Grandparents have with their grandchildren.
It was also heartening to see friends and grandparents including those whose grandparents couldn’t be there on the day.
We consider our Foundation students to be so lucky to have this day as other year levels talk about their past day and tell us they wish they could do it every year!
Thanks for sending the photos for our liturgy also.
Here are the thoughts and pictures from our students that were shared with Grandparents on the day.

In class, we have continued to learn about information books, learning and writing about facts.
Student’s are beginning to plan and write facts of their own and attempting to edit them with support in their classroom.
They have really enjoyed sharing their own work and are very proud of their accomplishments.
In Maths, we have been working on addition, using fingers, number lines, cards and unifix cubes to aid in their learning.
We have been encouraging students to start from the biggest number when adding i.e. 4 + 6 so start from 6 and counting on.
We are also reminding and teaching the students about friends of ten - numbers that add together to make 10, eg. 3 + 7 and 5 + 5.
They have really enjoyed games where we start with 10 and hide some having to guess what is hidden by counting what is left and remembering the friends of ten.
In our Religion unit, ‘I care for God’s world’, - we have been drawing and discussing things that God has made.
Our students are so good at seeing the beauty and wonder in our world and sharing their excitement and enthusiasm with others.
We hope that the Book Week costumes are getting organised as again the Foundation students are very excited for the parade and day on Thursday.
Thanks in advance.
Our Bernie Trophy winners for the past two weeks have been Foundation Everitt and Foundation Carnovale.
Here are our Award winners from the last two weeks also.
