Mary MacKillop Feast Day – Thursday 8th August

On Thursday 8th we celebrated our Feast Day Mass at 9,15am and then our Staff and Students took part in our College Walkathon, walking in solidarity from Koonwarra back to school in Leongatha to raise money for our chosen Charities.

  • Fusion
  • St Vincent de Paul Society of Vic
  • Asylum Seeker Resource Centre
  • St Joseph’s, Peru
  • Trinity Families
  • Mackillop Today

Mary Mackillop shone down on us during the day and the staff and students enjoyed a pleasant walk in the sun along the rail trail and then through town and back to school.  They then enjoyed a sausage sizzle lunch.  The afternoon was filled with lots of thrills and spills and the students from each year level took on the teachers in the annual Staff V Students Netball Match.

The year 12s brought it home for the students in overtime where the students were eventual winners by 1 point!  A wonderful ending to a successful day.

Thank you to the amazing Walkathon Committee who worked tirelessly over many lunchtimes last term and this term to organise this event.

I would particularly like to mention: Scott Blencowe, Jenny Damon, Mary Tye, Jackie Van Dillen, Jo Callister, Jess Stein, Nia Robinson, Melissa Preston and our Year 12 students leaders Dinisty Francis, Molly Heber and Sandra Dyke.

Parish School Partnerships

On Thursday 25th July 20 candidate from St Lawrences and St Joseph’s Primary School’s made their Sacrament of Confirmation at St Laurence’s Church in Leongatha.  The Mass was celebrated by Bishop Greg, Fr Stanly as well as another Priest who was a family member of one of the candidates.

John Freeman, myself and two representatives from Year 11 Youth Ministry attended the celebration to support our younger members of our Parish.

The Year 11 Youth Ministry students ran a Confirmation Retreat with these students at the end of Term 2 on June 25th.

Walkathon Cards

Recently your student will have received their walkathon card in a yellow envelope, labelled with their name and homeroom.

It’s now time for us, as a college to get out and about in our local communities and rally to raise money for our local charities!

We have a goal to raise $20 per student!  This can be raised through involvement in sporting clubs, hobby groups, asking extended family and friends or when visiting relatives.

When asking for a donation your student will need to record:

  1. Name of the sponsor
  2. The date received
  3. The amount pledged
    1. Tick whether the donation is in cash or via QR code.

This will help us keep track of donations.
