Gippsland Year 7 Soccer
Our team comprising of Robert, Cohen, Harrison, Seth, Ahren, Noah, Rasha, Jordyn, Jacob, Jett, William, Kobi, Kobi, Cohen, Lachlan and Jay did us proud against excellent opposition. The scoreboard didn’t reflect how well the boys played on the synthetic pitch, but we were very competitive throughout the 3 games played. At times we played so cohesively that we were able to heap the pressure on the opposition, and the game was looking good. Well done team. Unfortunately, no wins but hopefully you can train and play next year and improve on this result.
Gippsland Senior Netball
There is no doubt about the quality of the Senior Netball team making it through to the Gippsland competition. They were competitive the entire competition, never taking a step back in what was a solid 3 games. Emily, Harriet, Perry, Darcie, Tiah, Indi, Rose, Nyla, Ashlee and Bess were all excellent competitors on the day. Even though the first 2 games resulted in losses against Bass Coast College and Marist Sion, the final game resulted in a draw against Lavalla as we really started to bond as a team by the end of the day. Thanks to the 4 Year 12 girls who represented the school for the final time in Netball. It is our aim to build on this team next year, to continue to offer the chance to play further afield in the representative competition.
Gippsland Senior Basketball Girls and Boys
Sometimes success cannot be measured by the result is on the scoreboard. Our Senior teams, both boys and girls, had a great day out at the Gippsland Basketball Stadium in Traralgon, playing 3 games each. Juggling studies and representative duties can be hard work, so it was great to see these students find a way to compete against quality opposition, and still have a blast giving their all, and enjoying each other’s company. Congratulations to Indi, Rose, Logan, Grace, Chloe, Harriett, Kiah, Mary, Lachie, Tayden, Harry, Oliver, Victor, Tarkyn, Jack and Sam. The College thanks you for your efforts.
East Gippsland Athletics Carnival
Congratulations to all who participated in the District Carnival at Howitt Park in the sensational sunshine. We had a very successful day, with 30 wins and many more 2nd and 3rd placings, which was very encouraging to see. Our students also represented the College with exemplary and helpful behaviour throughout the day, personifying the representative sports programs core values. Well done to all. We wish the 24 individual students and the 15 year old girls relay team all the very best at the Newborough event in a couple of weeks. Next Athletics Event - Gippsland Secondary Track and Field Boys/Mixed Girls Regional Competition - September 10th.
Thank you!
A special thanks from the sports program to our teaching and support staff from all areas of our College. Throughout the year you volunteer, are asked to supervise and work at many of the events so that the students can experience competitive sports and team comradery. The ongoing support the program receives from you is greatly appreciated by the students, parents and sports staff alike.
