School Council Meeting

Our final meeting for term 2 was data driven! Luke and Graeme shared Naplan results for grades 3 and 5,  initial results of the Attitudes to School Survey, and Mid-year monitoring for the Annual Implementation Plan.

Naplan results were positive, demonstrating that initiatives such as writing intervention, explicit literacy instruction, Facts on Fire and daily reviews are supporting student learning and development. Results will continue to be reviewed in more detail to identify opportunities for continued growth.

Leadership are looking forward to exploring the results of the Attitudes to School survey more deeply. This will provide an opportunity to review and integrate knowledge shared during the last curriculum day and school values and practices set out in the school’s Wellbeing Booklet to ensure they align to support positive student experiences.

Reports from Luke and sub committee reps acknowledged how hard everyone has worked this term.

School reports have been shared on Sentral and Parent-Teacher interviews continue this week. We discussed that Nerida has been working hard on a minor funds grant application to improve the school quadrangle. Make sure you check out this video on the Capital Funds grant page of the newsletter  that forms part of the proposal. We are hopeful that funding will be approved to watch Oldlands and Newlands unite with a new look quadrangle.

In term 3, two psychology students will complete placements at Newlands working with staff and students to support wellbeing goals.

We approved activities to support the upcoming Boite Choir performance where 55 Newlands students of various ages will perform.
