What's been happening in Visual Arts

Foundation students have been busy painting and decorating their wonderful pinch pots and lids. We were blown away by the care that our students showed when using watercolour paint. The students were excited to take their final pieces home and we hope you have enjoyed seeing the results.

They also created some radiant rainbows which looked spectacular and they loved adding extra detail with sequins and paper. To finish off the term, Foundation students learnt about NAIDOC Week and made a collage of the Indigenous flag. We hope to display some rainbows and flags in the frames near the office.

The Year One students decorated their clay ornaments with bright and pearlescent paint and added some ribbon to create a hanging piece. They looked fantastic and we hope you have enjoyed seeing them come home.

After painting their clay, the Year Ones created rainbow turtles by adding paper, stickers and googly eyes for more detail. They looked wonderful and the students took care when creating them. To finish off the term, the students learnt about NAIDOC Week and created a 3D Pelican using paper and markers.

The Year Two students took care when painting their birds and nests and the final pieces looked spectacular. They should be proud of completing a piece that included some extra elements such as beads and feathers.

Then they created a paper mache bowl which was then painted with acrylic paint. After multiple lessons working on them, they looked amazing.

To finish off the term, the Year Twos worked on a rainbow confetti cloud. They took so much care when adding tissue paper confetti and sequins before adding folded strips of paper for the 'rain' and facial features for their cloud. The final pieces looked so beautiful and we hope to display them near the office and in the art room once complete!

The Year Three students demonstrated patience and care when decorating their coil hearts and stars. The final pieces looked wonderful and they should be proud of their positive attitudes when some pieces broke.

The students also worked on creating 3D Animal wall hangings using cardboard, paper mache, paint and Posca's. These took multiple lessons and they looked incredible once completed. The Year Threes also created a 3D Pufferfish landscape, using plates, bubble wrap, Posca's and magic mould Clay. We were blown away with the detail added from students we hope to display some near the office.

The Year Four students decorated their Mosaic Clay pots with care and skill and we hope our families have enjoyed seeing them come home.

The students also completed 3D fish and turtles using cardboard and coloured paper. Using simple geometric shapes, they layered paper over the cardboard and added further detail using markers. They then completed a Hundertwasser inspired 3D cityscape using paper and oil pastels. We look forward to finding a space to display the final pieces in Term three.

The Year Five and Six students decorated and painted their Clay piece with care and skill. We hope families enjoyed seeing the pieces coming home!

The students completed cardboard animals, using a variety of coloured papers and added extra detail with markers and Posca's. To finish the term, the Year Five/Six students created a 3D bird or plane using cardboard, paper mache and paint. The students also spent some time finishing off work from Term One such as Magic Portals and Identity Walls.

                                 Term Three

We look forward to another busy and creative Term Three, which has a focus of Textiles and Threads. We know our students will show skill whilst completing sewing and weaving projects and whilst using fabric and glue.

We will also be completing costume accessories with each year level and some props for our upcoming School Concert. We can't wait to showcase some of these very soon at our concert!

We hope all our families have a safe and fun holidays (maybe somewhere a bit warmer than Melbourne!) and we encourage small crafty projects to keep those creative ideas flowing!
