Drama

Year 10 Drama students have had an exciting start to Term 2 as they explore the unique and interesting world of Absurdist Theatre. Students have delved into a range of learning activities in order to gain a stronger understanding of this particular performance style.

Year 10 Drama have just finished their performance Assignment, where they were given a specific scene from a ‘Theatre of the Absurd’ play, and were asked to re-stage this scene using their own creative freedom. Students have been looking at specific dramatic features such as plot structure, acting, characterisation, movement, dialogue and stagecraft, and have worked diligently to apply their knowledge of these drama techniques in order to develop a stronger understanding of ‘Theatre of the Absurd’.

Year 12 Drama students have been working really hard this term to construct their Group Project major work. Students are well on their way in the devising process to piece together a 8-12 minute performance to present for HSC markers next term. This Group Project consists of all students working collaboratively, displaying innovative and engaging dramatic techniques in order to devise their own story. Additionally to the Group Project development, students have been working on their Individual Projects, a showcase of theatrical understanding in a major work of their choice. We have both Performance and Set Design projects that showcase creativity and ingenuity. The Year 12 Drama class look forward to presenting these works early next term for our Year 12 Drama night showcase.
