Music

Year 7 have been busy presenting Rock or individual artist presentations. Students also had to analyse a song looking at various concepts of Music. There were many great presentations including Taylor Swift, Eminem and AC/DC.
Year 8 recently completed a composition task using Soundtrap. Students were given various parts of the song “Don’t Stop Believin”. They then had to assemble the parts to make their own arrangements. This included using various loops and drum beats to enhance their arrangement.
Year 9 have been analysing various songs using the concepts of music. Using Duration, Pitch and Texture, they were able to analyse various bands and artists. They were able to develop points into a paragraph for each concept. It is great to hear their listening skills developing.
Year 10 completed a focus unit based on the Classroom Musical Instrument genre and performed Australian Rock/Pop repertoire in this style. Students engaged with xylophones, kazoos, maracas, woodblocks, cabassas and various hand held instruments. The unit culminated in students composing their own arrangement of an Australian Rock/Pop song in a varied genre.
Year 12 Music have begun rehearsing with live accompanists and are preparing for their upcoming Practical HSC Exam next term. Some of the class performance repertoire includes songs from Amy Winehouse, Stevie Wonder, Postmodern Jukebox and Rimsky-Korsakov. The students will perform a showcase of their HSC pieces in Week 8 of Term 3.
