Grade 1/2 Writing

As part of our MultiLit program, the grade 1/2 students have been learning about all the different types of texts. Recently, we have been looking at how procedures are written and why they are important to us. The students were asked to write a procedure called "How to make Fairy Bread". Students had to ensure that they used the appropriate prepositions and used the correct language required for procedures.

Once their writing was completed, students had the chance to read it to Miss Fenwick, and she attempted to make it using their instructions. The students did fantastically with their initial draft, not requiring many edits.

What a yummy outcome!

Grade 3-6 ICU

In ICU we have been learning about Australia‘s neighbouring countries and I have researched Fiji. We had to include information including how close the country is to Australia, list some similarities and differences, a map and a list of interesting facts and other information. - Lucy Morrison

In ICU we have been learning about the neighbouring countries to Australia and I have finished my assessment task.  The neighbouring country that I have researched is New Caledonia. - Edmund Wilson.

Kinder Visit

Last week, our senior students had the wonderful opportunity to visit Inglewood Kindergarten. During the visit, the students participated in fun and educational activities that fostered a strong sense of community connection.

Together, students created healthy plates by cutting and pasting pictures of nutritious foods, and ended with everyone enjoying a delicious selection of fresh fruit before heading out to play.

Our new Chickens!

Last week, the students had a fun surprise! Our St Mary’s community has welcomed 4 chickens. These chickens will provide a wonderful initiative on deepening our students' understanding of healthy eating and sustainability. The eggs our hens lay will be used as part of our Patch to Plate program, giving students hands-on experience in growing, harvesting, and preparing fresh food.

Another huge thank you to Shane Maxwell and Jamie Toogood for all their work in getting our garden and chook shed up and running!

We are also super excited to also announce the names of our 4 feathered friends!
