Principals Report

Dear Parents, Families and Friends,

As we reach the end of Semester 1, I want to thank you for your continued partnership in what has been a rich and rewarding start to 2025. The learning and growth by staff and students as we navigate the exciting journey of Magnify Sandhurst has been a joy to witness. A sincere thank you to all families who have attended school events, whether assemblies, liturgies, excursions, sports days, or community gatherings. Your involvement helps shape the vibrant culture we’re so proud of at St Mary’s.

Our students continue to thrive thanks to the dedication of our staff and the positive support from home. Each day, teachers work with care and purpose to help students set meaningful goals, extend their learning, and build strong relationships with others. It has been particularly pleasing to see students embodying our school values of kindness, perseverance, respect, and responsibility, both in the classroom and on the playground.

Academic reports and student learning journals will be sent home today. These offer a snapshot of your child’s progress, including assessments, work samples, and teacher reflections. I encourage you to take the time to read through these documents with your child. Celebrate their achievements, reflect on their goals, and talk about what lies ahead in Semester 2.

As it was last year, you’ll also notice some updates to the layout of the report, particularly in Mathematics. With the introduction of the Victorian Curriculum V2.0, students will now receive a single overall grade for Mathematics each semester. This change reflects the flexible design of the new curriculum and allows us to more accurately report across the varied strands taught at different year levels. If you have any questions about your child’s report, teachers and I will be available for follow-up conversations next week.

We now look ahead to Term 3 with enthusiasm, grateful for what’s been achieved and energised for what’s to come.
