Reconciliation Week 2025 – Sharing Stories Through Art

During Reconciliation Week 2025, our Year 2 students explored the theme “Bridge now to next” by listening to Dreamtime stories and learning about how First Nations peoples share knowledge, culture, and values through storytelling. These rich and meaningful stories offered us insight into Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives on family, Country, and belonging.

Inspired by what we heard, students used traditional Aboriginal symbols to create artworks that told their own family stories. They thoughtfully selected symbols to represent important people, places and experiences in their lives—celebrating both individuality and connection.

This week of learning helped students recognise the importance of listening, empathy, and understanding. 

The students also made a Reconcilliation Pledge to help "Bridge Now to Next".
