Foundation

During Reconciliation Week, our Foundation students took part in several special activities to help them learn more about Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander histories and cultures.

We started the week by talking about the Acknowledgement of Country. This helped our students understand why it’s important to respect and recognise the Traditional Owners of the land where we learn and play every day.

The children also explored how Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people use pictures, symbols, and music to share stories and pass on knowledge from one generation to the next. This inspired some lovely class discussions and creative activities where the children had fun expressing their own stories through drawing and making sounds.

One of the most meaningful activities was when each child made a paper hand with a message of ‘Sorry’. This showed their growing understanding of Australia’s history and why saying sorry is so important. These hands are proudly displayed outside the Foundation classrooms.

We are proud of how our Foundation students showed respect and care during Reconciliation Week. They truly embraced the spirit of learning and understanding.
