On Thursday 5th June, Cheltenham PS were proudly represented by 21 girls in the Year 5-6 Girls Soccer Gala Day at Mentone Grammar Playing Fields.
The girls had been completing before school trials and training for a month prior to the competition. With great pleasure, we were able to enter 2 teams and assist the girls from Christway College to ensure all schools were able to field a team on the day.
Our Cheltenham team played in Pool A and our combined team, appropriately named Cheltway, played in Pool B. The girls played some incredible soccer and displayed wonderful sportsmanship and courage throughout the day.
Cheltenham finished 1st in Pool A and advanced to the grand final against OLA.
Cheltway finished 2nd in Pool B and played a 3rd place play off game against Stella Maris.
In the final, Cheltenham were defeated 1-0 by OLA in a highly skilled, end to end game.
Cheltway finished their campaign with a 2-0 loss in their 3rd place play off game.
All in all, the girls had a fabulous time and enjoyed the opportunity to represent the school and make some new friends.
Over the weekend of 16–18 May, the 2025 Senior Victorian Gymnastics Championships were held at the State Sports Centre in Parkville. Among the talented athletes representing their clubs was our very own Abbey M from 6A, who competed in the Trampoline Gymnastics events—and achieved outstanding results.
Abbey began her competition on Saturday morning with the individual trampoline event. After performing both her set and voluntary routines with great control and skill, she progressed to the finals and went on to win the gold medal. That evening, Abbey competed in the double mini trampoline event, where she completed two strong passes, again qualifying for the final—and once again taking out first place.
As a result, Abbey is now the 2025 U13 Victorian Champion in both trampoline and double mini trampoline.
On Sunday, Abbey returned to compete in the synchronised trampoline event, pairing with an older athlete in the U17 category. Together, they delivered a well-executed routine and placed an impressive fourth overall.
Thanks to her high scores across the weekend, Abbey has been selected to represent Victoria at the upcoming Australian Gymnastics Championships on the Gold Coast during the July school holidays.
We are incredibly proud of Abbey’s achievements and wish her all the best as she prepares to compete on the national stage.
