Principal's Report

By Carolyn Serpell

I hope you all enjoyed the long weekend and were able to make the most of the wintery conditions!

With the timely arrival of last weekend's snow, we are all set to make an early start to our Year 5/6 downhill ski/snowboard program next Thursday, subject to suitable weather conditions.  Consent information and costings have been published on Compass. Many thanks to Steph for her organisation and to Howman's for their assistance with transport.  Thank you also to those parents who have volunteered their assistance with the program.

Today, we had a very special visit from snake catcher Jarrod, together with Alice and 'Pitone' the resident Children's Python, from Outdoor School.  During the presentation, Jarrod shared lots of valuable information about snakes and answered the many questions students had prepared in advance.  The presentation was key to the work students have been doing in class around learning to write information reports, and we are very grateful to have two of our parents come and share their expertise.

On Monday, six of our students from year 5/6 will embark for a 9 day Somers Camp, along with 150 students from schools around the region.  This camp is offered only once every two years and is a great opportunity for students to meet other students from schools in the area.

Next Friday, Year 6 will be travelling to Wangaratta to present their projects as part of a Project Showcase day for the 'Kids in Space' program.  As part of this program, students have researched a problem, related to space, and have come up with a solution, which they have designed and printed on the 3D printer. Our students have come up with some great solutions and models, which we are looking forward to learning more about, in coming weeks.  Students will be travelling by bus, departing at 7.45am.  Please meet in the bus shelter at 7.30am.
