Assistant Principals' Report

2025 Primary Years NAPLAN Results
We were really pleased to receive our NAPLAN results for the Primary Years. Our results indicate that we are matching or exceeding network (local) schools and statewide results for Year 3 and Year 5 in most subjects. In the coming weeks, we will share more details about our results, especially in English. Congratulations to our students and teachers on this great achievement.
Science Week
This week was Science Week. To acknowledge the importance of Science, we had students from the Secondary Years attend our Year Level assemblies and speak to our students about the importance of learning about Science. Students were then thrilled to watch an Elephant's toothpaste experiment. Thanks to Rosalia, Sam and Manpreet from the SY Science department for their work in organising this.
Term 3 Parent/Teacher Interviews
We will be holding parent/teacher interviews online on Friday, 12th September. Watch out for bookings to be released on Compass closer to the date. Please note that parents and carers do not need to wait until interviews to speak to teachers if they have a concern or questions. If you would like to speak to your child's teacher outside of interviews, please email them to arrange a suitable time for them to phone you or arrange a meeting.
Positive Learning Routines Term 3 Competition
Congratulations to our winners of the Positive Learning Routine trophy - Prep A and 6D. These grades received the most nominations for the past 2 weeks from our staff and student leaders. Classes receive nominations for demonstrating our Positive Learning Routines.
At Hazel Glen College, we recognise the importance of consistent routines and the role they play in supporting calm classrooms where students are able to focus on their learning. As well as our Positive Learning Routine trophies, our classes are all in the running to be the Term 3 winner of the Positive Learning Routines competition. The class from each year level that has the most nominations at the end of the Term will win a special prize. See below for the current class tallies.
