From the Principal

Dear Parents and Carers,
As Term 2 draws to a close I would like to thankyou for all the support and kind comments received whilst Justin and I have been in these acting leadership positions. We look forward to welcoming Kathryn Murphy as our new principal on day one of next term, and I'm sure you will all make her feel very welcome.
On Monday at our final assembly of the term we had Phillip Wade from the Rotary Club of North Balwyn come to present to two of our Year 6 students who were successful in this years competition. Eoin Whelan received 3rd prize which was a remarkable result (there were approximately 140 entries) and Connor Katsanevakis received an encouragement award. Well done boys you have made us very proud!
This week we had two of our Marwal Magic Teams make the Grand Final in the Bulleen Junior Community League. In somewhat of a twist of fortune the Year 5/6 girls won their grand final by 1 point on Monday night and the Year 3/4 Mixed team lost their match by 1 point on Tuesday night! Regardless of the result they all made us very proud and should be congratulated on such a great season as a team. The girls have written a fabulous recount of their game which I have included in this week's newsletter.
Next term we are excited to be introducing a significant amount of new literacy resources across the school!
Our fabulous Parent Association have made a very generous donation to refresh our home reading supplies and we also have OCHRE literacy resources being introduced into the Junior School.
Our students are very lucky to have such language rich resources at their disposal and your support of our PA fundraising events throughout the year have enabled this, so thankyou!
Tonight and tomorrow we have Parent/Teacher interviews at school. These meetings are an important way for teachers and parents to celebrate each student's progress so far this year whilst also discussing future goals and targets.
Please see below a link to our new student led creation of a school magazine called Bede's Business. Noa T (year 4) came up with the idea and as Editor in Chief would love to see more contributors join the team! We meet on Wednesdays first half of lunch in the library.
Wishing you all a restful and enjoyable holiday break with your family - stay warm!
Amanda
