This Week's Updates

Dear Families,

What a busy and exciting week we had at St James last week! The week commenced with our annual STEM Olympics on Monday which was a great success, followed by the Years 4-6 athletics day which was well attended with our students bringing positive attitudes, displaying camaraderie and a healthy display of competitiveness.

If anyone has any doubt about how engaged, supportive, compassionate and empathic our St James community is, then last Friday’s Mini Mission Fete surely put that to rest!

Our Year Five and Six students commenced preparations for the Mini Mission fete about half way through last term using many maths, writing, economic, teamwork and research skills to help decide on the stall they would operate and the charities they would donate to.

We had a number of staff and parents who generously gave up many hours to support the students and the entire event. Our Year Four families made many delicious cakes, slices and beautifully decorated cupcakes.

I’d like to acknowledge the specific help from the parents who helped with the BBQ (in all ways) and cake stall sales.

On the day, all the stalls were well-organised and run with great enthusiasm and energy, the hours spent preparing and pre-planning apparent.  It was a great day and students, teachers and parents alike joined in the fun....including a pie or two in the face..............

As a community we raised over $5000 for the two chosen charities Peace Trees Vietnam and The Robert Connor Dawes Foundation.  This is the highest total ever. Congratulations everyone!

We will have full reports on these three exciting events in our newsletter next week.

Winter illness

There has been an increase in the number of illnesses among students and staff in the last few weeks. Please ensure to keep your child at home if they are sick and allow them sufficient time to recover to mitigate against the spread of illness and resulting student and teacher absences.
