Pastoral Care and Wellbeing
Welcome to Term 3!
At the end of this week we will see the best of the best compete in the 2024 Olympics. Years of preparation have gone into minutes on the track, in the pool, or in one of the many other sports competing. Our best athletes have already gone to Paris to reveal their best to the world. We read articles on our athletes - Torrie Lewis, Claudia Hollingsworth, Callum Peters, Rachel Dutschke and Lauren Parker - just to name a few. Each athlete has worked extremely hard and continues to work hard, to be their best and each athlete has their own story of achievements and milestones that have earned them a ticket to Paris.
Claudia and Torrie have recently spoken about the impact of making tough decisions. How at times they even doubted the way they were moving. Rachel has spoken about the sacrifices that have been necessary, the ups, the downs and the consequences. Callum originally took up boxing to improve his health. Each story is unique however, all have stated that their achievements have been supported by those around them. That their team has provided guidance when needed, helped to adjust their routines as skills developed and pushing them to be their best.
As we prepare for a term of making decisions it is important to consider – what do I want to do? What are my strengths? What could I need a little help with? - and to use the resources that are available to you. Don’t be afraid to seek advice from trusted adults or friends, but remember that the final decision is yours. Trust your instincts and don’t rush; take your time to reflect. Be prepared to accept the consequences of your choices and learn from them. Remember, making mistakes is part of the learning process. Stay confident and believe in your ability to make good decisions.
