Celebrate Public Education Week and Book Week

Students and staff invite parents / carers to join us on Monday 19 August , commencing 8.45am - 11.15am to celebrate Public Education Week and Book Week.  The morning will include a Book Week parade, activities, an assembly showcasing some of the learning that has happened at Niangala Public School during semester one and morning tea.

Public Education Week will be held from 5-9 August 2024 celebrating the theme: Proud to belong. Public Education Week is when we celebrate and acknowledge all those who contribute to our children and young people’s educational journey. School staff, parents and carers, community leaders and P&C associations all play an important role in our students' education.

Book Week is recognised from 17-23 August 2024, with the theme Reading is Magic.  Students will come to school Monday 19 August dressed as their favourite book character and on Wednesday 21 August they will need to use their imagination and come dressed as a character that they will create and write a story about.

School Recognition Presentation

To celebrate Public Education Week 2024 a special assembly was hosted at Martins Gully Public School, Armidale on Tuesday 6 August.  Principals from the schools in the Armidale District were able to nominate three people from their school to be publicly recognised for the contributions they make within the school community.  Of course, it is very difficult to only be able to nominate three recipients when our school is full of amazing students, staff and community members.

Recipients from Niangala Public School were;

Chaise Gibson outstanding student award

Chaise has proved himself to be a supportive leader in our school who leads by example. He demonstrates the Niangala Public School values of Respect for Self, Respect for Others and Respect for Learning and is a role model for other students. By taking on challenges and stepping out of his comfort zone he has shown that through action he is striving to be the best individual he can be.

Mrs Kelly Makeham for outstanding contribution to the school by a staff member

Kelly's dedication, care, commitment and self reflection are invaluable qualities that she possesses in bundles and make her a much respected and valued member of our school. Kelly's new career path has seen her striving to be better, do better - not just for herself but for the students she teaches.

Tabitha Ham for outstanding contribution to the school by a member of the community

For organising and running the Niangala Public School's P&C major fundraiser of the year - the Pie Drive. The school community are all very grateful for the time and effort Tabitha puts in to this fundraiser making it increasingly successful each year!

 They received their certificates from Mr Matt Hobbs - Director Educational Leadership.
