Last week our teachers started the school term with a Curriculum Day focused on Formative Assessment. Teachers had the opportunity to build a deeper understanding of formative assessment and how it can positively impact student learning and assessment in all areas across the curriculum. Our teachers will continue to embed this into their programs to provide the best opportunities for student success!
What a week it was celebrating NAIDOC! We had many events, activities and chances to keep the fire burning! Our NAIDOC Week celebrations are a chance to put a spotlight on how Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders contribute to our community. We are proud of how we continue to embed, explore and listen to different perspectives in our community and we we can apply parts in our own setting.
Please some examples of some Aboriginal artwork from our Grade 2 students as the explored NAIDOC Week through the first scientists' with the skies. Students had to draw their own emu and create their own night sky. Our Grade 6 students investigated particular symbols and pattern within Aboriginal Artwork to then create their own stories that represent us at Hampton Primary School. This week the students will paint a variety of rocks to soon be placed around the school.
Last week, some Grade 6 students participated in the John Monash Science School Program at Monash University. Our students have explored a range of scientific and mathematical experiments and challenges which have been fun and interesting to be a part of. We look forward to our final session next week, but also look forward to continuing the program later this term.
