Seussical Production

Seussical: The Musical - July 31 - August 3

Our annual College production was a spectacular display of colour, joy, and heart as staff and students came together to present an amazing rendition of Seussical: The Musical. The Cat in the Hat narrates the tale of Horton, an elephant who discovers a speck of dust that contains the Whos, including JoJo, a young Who sent off to military school for thinking too many "thinks." 

The process over the past few months has been monumental. Since January, the production team has worked tirelessly to create a successful show, and the students have embraced the challenge with enthusiasm. This journey included auditions, call backs, rehearsals, and an intensive holiday rehearsal period. Throughout this experience, our students have grown immensely, becoming adaptable and capable young individuals who take ownership of their roles, whether portraying animals on stage, crafting turtle shells from scratch, or developing as musicians with a challenging score. 

Our goal in staging Seussical was to infuse it with heart. We aimed to bring beloved and iconic cartoon characters to life, characters that are often wild, wacky, and a little wonky, through the performances of our talented students. The heart behind the scenes is just as significant, with our stage, art, hair, and make-up crews, along with the band, all contributing to the storytelling. 

Production week was an incredible endeavour, with our stage, art, hair, and make-up crews, and the band collaborating seamlessly to bring the story to life alongside the cast. It was an incredible week, almost like a handover process, where the students essentially ran the show under the guidance of our expert staff. We were thrilled with how smoothly the week went and delighted by the amazing and responsive reactions from our audiences, receiving incredible feedback throughout the performances. 

We would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to everyone involved in this year's production of Seussical: The Musical. A huge thank you to our dedicated staff who made up the production team and gave countless of hours of their time as well as our talented students, whose commitment and creativity brought this production to life. We also want to express our appreciation to our wonderful audiences for their enthusiastic support, our FOPA committee who were amazing at Front of House and to our Principal Team for their unwavering commitment to the Performing Arts. Your contributions made this show a resounding success, and we couldn't have done it without you!
