Model UN in Japanese
On July the 23rd, Estella Law, Grace Payling, Rebecca Xu, Rick Whelan, Jules Nguyen, Kenny Kha from Year 11 and 12 Japanese, went to the city and participated in the Model UN in the Japanese Language.
This is a unique opportunity offered by The United Nations and Victorian Government to support students in using their language skills to discuss global issues.
Students researched about their respective countries’ (China and South Africa) positions on AI and took part in activities such as negotiating their positions with other countries and even presented a speech in Japanese in front of about 50 other students and their teachers from around Victoria using sophisticated economic language related to AI and technology in Japanese. Many of these other participating schools were selective and private schools highlighting the sophisticated nature of the event.
The way students represented Viewbank was highly commendable and highlighted their strengths as language learners. It was a challenging but extremely valuable and rewarding day for all.
