Sandy Saints Basketball Club needs you!
Did you know that the Sandy Saints Basketball club was started by Sacred Heart families 45 years ago? More than 60% of Sandy Saints players are current or past students from Sacred Heart. The close relationship between school and club has seen continuous representation from Sacred Heart parents on the committee until recently. Current committee members have served for 6+ years and some roles are now outsourced at a cost to the club. It would be wonderful to reestablish the direct link between the school and basketball club by some current parents joining the committee.
Following a presentation to your wonderful P&F we have two people interested in joining the committee so please feel free to reach out to kylie@sandysaints.com.au or Sheri uniforms@sandysaints.com.au if you have any questions and are also interested in joining. Below is a brief description of the available roles.
Club Secretary - Works alongside the club president, sets meeting dates, issues meeting agenda and minutes, orders end of season trophies.
Training and Coaching Coordinator - Liaises with training venues (e.g. school principal), prepares the training roster each season, communicates with TM's as needed. This role also organises the coaching and player clinics throughout the year (generally coaching clinics once per season and player clinics monthly). NB. This role could be split into two.
Junior Registrar - Much like an age group coordinator for U8-U12, liaises with TM's to help fill teams, assists onboarding new teams to the club (e.g. direction re uniforms and training). This role could be split amongst two people.
Treasurer - Manages the budget and forecasts, provides financial updates at committee meetings on how the club is tracking financially. Co-Signatory on the bank accounts. Can be assisted by our current (outsourced) bookkeeper who can prepare the required annual reporting.
Other roles on the committee include President, Vice President, IT support, Communications, and Uniform Co-ordinator.
The club will be holding its AGM in September and we welcome anyone interested in joining the committee to come along. Date and venue will be communicated in the coming two weeks.
