The Interhouse Athletics Carnival was a vibrant showcase of skill, teamwork, and school spirit, leaving an indelible mark on all participants and spectators. Held on a bright, sunny day, the event saw students from various houses gather at the University of Queensland’s Athletics Centre, ready to compete in a wide array of athletic events.

The air buzzed with anticipation and excitement. We started the day with a Dress Up Costume Parade with Secondary students and teachers dressing up in costumes from minions to lifeguards to battle out for the winning prize.

From the first sports event, it was clear that the competition would be fierce, with each house competing for the coveted Champion’s title. Track events such as sprints and long-distance races showcased the students' speed and endurance, with many close finishes and thrilling moments that kept the crowd on the edge of their seats.

In the field events, the competitors demonstrated their strength and precision in disciplines like shot put, discus, high jump, and long jump. Each house cheered enthusiastically for their athletes, creating an electrifying atmosphere that spurred everyone to perform their best. The students' unwavering perseverance, even in the face of tough competition, was truly inspiring, making the event more than just a competition.

The relay teams were forces to be reckoned with, exhibiting seamless baton changes and blistering speed. A teacher versus senior relay also took place, with the teachers sadly coming out on top. As the day ended, we finished with a gift race, where the fastest students in our school raced to be named the quickest.

The final scores were tallied, and the announcement of Ashburn House as the overall winner was met with jubilant celebrations. Their victory was a testament to their hard work, team spirit, and sportsmanship throughout the carnival. The Interhouse Athletics Carnival was not just a competition but a celebration of our Clayfield College community, unity and athletic excellence, with Ashburn House emerging as the deserving champion.
