VCE-VM Mural
Last semester the Year 11 VCE VM class began working on a few murals that involved a design process. The students were involved in all areas of the creation of the mural, from the design stage to selecting the colours, painting onto the marine plywood with exterior paints and carefully screwing each individual donated plastic lid. It has been a great way to recycle plastic lids and a fantastic opportunity for the students to learn about design.
The TEXTILES mural is the first to be completed and there are two more different ideas to follow. You can view it out front of the Textiles room. I am very proud of these students and look forward to the completion of next one!

Year 8 Visual Communication Design
First time Year 8 Visual Communication Design students have been busy in and outside of the classroom experimenting with the media of grey-lead pencil to explore rendering techniques. This is to prepare students for their short folio on Observational Drawing. Students have used this media to achieve some great results. Please see some of their detailed outcomes below.

Volleyball Victorian Schools Cup
Nazareth College entered four teams into the Volleyball Victoria Schools Cup that was held last week at the State Volleyball Centre in Dandenong.
Our Division 2 Year 10 Girls team finished 9th, while our Division 2 Year 10 Boys came 6th. The Year 11 Boys Honours team had a tough draw, seeing them finish 10th. The Year 11 Girls Honours team had some great wins and came 5th overall.
Congratulations to all the students who participated over the three days, and thanks to the staff who supervised and supported the teams.
SIS Teen Chef
On Thursday 1 August Nazareth’s Teen Chefs competed in the SIS Teen Chef Competition at John Paul College in Frankston. The theme for this year’s competition was the main and dessert were required to emphasize citrus. There were 11 schools who participated. Four plates of the same dish were prepared in 90 minutes to be judged by the Australian Culinary Federation. The students had no assistance during the cooking time.
Liani Mademlis and Amelie Mauceri (Year 10) were our main course Chefs. They prepared Fennel, Ginger, Orange and Grapefruit Scallops infused in orange vinaigrette. The dish had many amazing and complex elements on the plate.
Elisha Mac and Alice Cheng (Year 9) were our dessert Chefs. They prepared Chocolate Fondant Orange Pudding with orange ice cream sitting on orange crumble. It had many fantastic elements on the plate as well.
Both dishes showcased amazing skills and techniques. They were presented in a professional manner and were so delicious!
Our team have spent many months practising their dishes. We were thrilled as we placed 3rd!!!!!!
A huge thanks to Mrs Zoya Curcio. Thanks also to Mrs Tracey Blake and Mr Sam Cosentino for their tastings, support and feedback throughout the journey.
Congratulations to our four Teen Chefs for their hard work, passion, creativity, teamwork and skill. We look forward to next year.

Breakfast Club at Nazareth
A reminder to ALL students that Breakfast Club operates every morning from 8 am, inside the foyer of the Auditorium. Breakfast is offered to any student who needs some nourishment before the school day begins. It is essential to feed the brain! We offer cereals, toast, fruit and drinks, so please come and enjoy a bite to eat.
Breakfast Club could not operate without volunteers, so any student who thinks they can help serve, please see Ms Douglass or Ms Caitlin Mackay to sign up on the roster
St Anthony's Tutoring
If you are interested in helping at St. Anthony's tutoring on a Tuesday afternoon, the sign-up sheet is outside my office in the Resource Centre. This is open to ALL students and is a wonderful way to connect with our wider school community. We only ask for one and a half hours of your time, and you may decide to do it once or twice in the term. We currently have four boys volunteering, which is awesome, but having some girls would also be great. Please consider participating, especially if you are a School Leader or a Vinnie.
