Deputy Principal Staff and Students Report
Child Safety
As teachers we are continually making decision for the safety of children. Often this happens very naturally without a lot of time or thought (i.e. when we see an obstruction or obstacle when we travel and we remove or divert around at very short notice). There are also some processes that we go through to ensure we are doing the best we can to try and ensure it is a safe community for everyone. Two processes that we undertake regularly are Emergency Evacuation and Lockdown Drills. These are undertaken to ensure we are ready as we can be for emergencies that may come our way. We will be having an Evacuation Drill in the coming weeks as part of our desire to do what we can to make our school as safe as we can.
We have also undertaken a review of our school recently which had a big focus on the policies and procedures for Child Safety. I am pleased to be able to report that there was very positive feedback from the reviewers on the work the school has done and some suggestions for us as we desire to continue to grow and develop in this important area. Our Child Safety Team will be continuing to meet regularly to look at our policies and operation and ways we can improve in this important area. If you have any suggestions for improvement in Child Safety please feel most welcome to contact me at the College so we can continue to improve.
Deputy Principals' Reviews
Over the next few weeks Ms Claire Nailon, our Deputy Principal for Teaching and Learning, and I will be undergoing a review of our work in our respective leadership roles. This process will involve anonymous surveys and interviews for staff, parents/guardians/carers and students. We welcome any responses as we both are very enthusiastic about honest feedback and trying to grow and improve in our roles. If you would like to participate in these reviews and give some valuable feedback, please feel free to contact the College to express your interest.
Staff Recruitment Evening
Last year the College ran a Staff Recruitment evening which was very successful and led to a number of fantastic teachers learning about our community, hearing from staff currently working at Nazareth and then applying for a job at Nazareth. We employed a number of staff from the evening last year and as a result ran a night for teachers interested in learning about Nazareth on Wednesday, 7 August 2024. If you know of someone who may be interested in working at Nazareth please direct them to our website and look in My College>Employment.
Feast of the Assumption
On Thursday 15 August 2024 the school will celebrate together with a whole school Mass for the Feast of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary. This is a beautiful Feast as we ponder our destiny and God’s loving plans for our future. Parents/Guardians/Carers and family members are welcome to attend the Mass. There will be a modified timetable on this day.
Working Together
As we head to the middle of Term 3 we are encouraged by the positive feedback from our School Review and the great start students have made to Semester 2. With Subject Selections for our current Years 8 - 11 students and many activities and excursions it is a busy part of the term. We encourage all students to continue working to the best of their ability and persisting over the coming weeks.
Parents/Guardians/Carers, please continue to contact us if there are any ways we can assist, or if there is anything we should be aware of, as we wish to work with you for the best outcomes for your children.
God Bless.
