Level 4

Learning is firing on all cylinders in Year 4!

In Mathematics, students have been constructing replicas of the Seven Wonders of the World using MAB blocks. After building their creations, they carefully deconstructed them to analyse the value of each block, strengthening their understanding of place value up to the hundred-thousands. It has been fantastic to see their reasoning skills develop as they explained how their numbers were composed and represented.

In Humanities, we have been learning about important Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander commemorations such as NAIDOC Week, National Reconciliation Week and National Sorry Day. Students explored why these events are significant and how they connect to caring for Country. As part of this learning, the Year 4 cohort participated in a scavenger hunt around Mitcham, searching for clues and images connected to land, waterways & wildlife. We also explored traditional Aboriginal symbols and their meanings, discussing how they are used to represent people, journeys, meeting places and connections to Country in storytelling and artwork.
